Long-term care insurance or LTC, is a purchased insurance which helps provide for services to assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, or eating, which are generally not covered by health insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid. In order to receive benefits from your long-term care insurance policy, you must meet the plan criteria. Most often, these criteria are defined in terms of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) or cognitive impairments, such as needing help with 2 or more of 6 ADLs or when you have a cognitive impairment.
